By having a popup blocker installed, like Google Toolbar, or Adaware you can eliminate the majority of Popup's, but if you find you are still getting a number of popup's especially the pornography or gambling type every time you log on to the internet, then you may have a virus.

Ensure that you have the latest programs installed on your PC and that you also have the updated the Anti Virus definitions and the latest Windows updates for your operating system.

Firstly, run the antivirus software to check for Virus. Then run the Adaware and Spyware programs to check for any other rogue software installed on your PC.

You may find there are viruses within your Operating System and Registry. If you are not familiar with these programs. Please seek Expert advice to get them removed.

To find out what operating system you have;

From the desktop,
Right Click on My Computer,
Select Properties.
This should tell you what Operating system you are using.
